PLEASE SEE THE BELOW CHANGES TO THE DRAFT DAY

When:

Saturday, April 7th, 2018

Randall’s Island, Sunken Meadow Fields, Field #34

10:00 am – 12:00 pm Women’s+ & Open Division Drafts

Due to weather related issues we have made the following changes to the draft.

We are moving the draft to Chelsea Park (27th & 28th Street btwn 9th and 10th Avenues)

Women’s+ Draft will be at 10:00am – 12:00pm

Open Division Draft will be at 1:00pm – 3:00pm

We recommend getting to the fields at least 15 minutes before your draft begins to sign-in, stretch and warm-up. Both drafts will begin promptly at their designated time.

What to Wear/Bring:

  • Layers–The field can get chilly, so we recommend layering in clothes you can move in. There’s also a chance of rain, so we’d recommend bringing waterproof gear.

  • Athletic footwear–Chelsea Field is a turf field. You may wear cleats or sneakers.

  • Softball glove– If you do not have one, we will have some extra for you to use

  • Water!

 

How to Find Us:

Our volunteers will be stationed at the Sunken Meadow Fields at Field #34. See this map for where those fields are located.

What to Expect:

We will have volunteers from the league leading some basic softball drills to determine everyone’s skill level including; fielding of ground balls, fly balls, throwing, and hitting. Remember that we want to make sure you are matched with an appropriate team and that you have fun!

After the drills, while the Managers are drafting our volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you have.  Once drafting is complete players will be introduced to their manager to get more detailed info about the team and schedule.

 

What Happens After:

We will have our Annual Skills Clinic immediately after the draft. You are welcome to join us, cost is $20 per player. You could also join some of our players at the Randall’s Island Golf Center’s Beer Garden. There’s a full bar and food!

 

What Happens if it Rains:

We will post on the facebook event page and on the top of the homepage if there is a rain out. Since there is also rain in the forecast for the days leading up to the draft we recommend checking the website in the morning! Note: There will STILL be an way to join the league if we DO happen to get rained out! We will follow up with information if/when that happens!
