We are always in need of volunteers. Whether its scorekeeping, coaching, managing, helping set up parties/events or sponsoring a team, we could always use your help. Contact us to find out how!

About BASL

The Big Apple Softball League (BASL) is a not for profit adult community based sports organization, created to provide and protect the opportunity for adult individuals who support the bonds of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender fellowship to play softball in a safe environment of friendly competition, free of discrimination on the basis of age, race, creed, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

News & Announcements

Keep up to date with the latest news and announcements from around the league!

BASL plays double-header slowpitch softball games on Saturdays in a Spring/Summer and Fall Season. We also host numerous parties and events throughout the year including an Opening Party, Awards Ceremony, Follies and Holi-Gay Party. Our teams also host happy hours and fundraisers.

The league is currently divided into women's divisions and Open divisions. Each division is based on a different skill level and competitive attitude, from the highly competitive to purely recreational.

We have New Player Drafts to ensure players are placed into the divisions relative to their skill and desired level of play, this ensures the league is safe and fun for everyone. We do our best to find a team for EVERY player.  We even host an Annual Skills Clinic in Early Spring both for new players and players looking to brush up their softball skills!

BASL is a great way to meet new LGBTQ+ people and allies in NYC. If you are interested in playing in BASL please come to one of our drafts in the early spring or message us at
