Get Involved with the Big Apple Softball League
The Big Apple Softball League is a not-for-profit organization that is completely run by volunteers. From running teams on game days to sponsoring a team and even running a board position there's countless ways to participate in the Big Apple Softball League. Take a look at some of the ways to get involved below.
Play with us
BASL welcomes players of all skill levels, from the most experienced to those completely new to the game. We have a long Spring/Summer Season and a shorter Fall Season, each seasons welcome players of all skill levels.
Manage a Team
We are always on the hunt for team managers or assistant managers. Managers are expected to bring bases for team games (bases are provided by the league), write team lineups, report scores to team reps, pay umpire fees, collect team sponsor fees and attend BASL General Body meetings. First year managers and coaches are encourage to work closely with BASL Division Reps in their first few seasons. Though interested in managing tournament teams are also welcome to get in touch.
Become a Division Representative
We encourage Big Apple Softball League veterans to help out the league by becoming representatives for their divisions. Division Reps set up the team schedule, help arrange makeup games in the event of rainouts, run the teams at the All-Star game. Division representatives are vital communicators for the Division managers and the executive board. New Division Representatives are nominated at the end of every Spring Season.
Run for a Executive Committee Position
Big Apple Softball nominates and elects a Commissioner, Asst. Commissioner, Asst. Commissioner (Women's), Secretary, & Treasurer on a rotating basis. We welcome all Big Apple Softball veterans to nominate members they think are capable of the helping make BASL run smoothly
